Stephen Reynolds

Stephen Reynolds has been our accompanist since January 2002. Stephen studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music (now the Royal Northern College of Music) with Colin Horsley and Ryszard Bakst of Warsaw. He gained distinction in performance and teaching and also won various awards, including the Rothschild and Martin Trust scholarships.

A finalist in the 1971 BBC piano competition, Stephen was also prize winner at Gian Battista International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy in 1972. Stephen has a particular affinity with French music and has held highly acclaimed recitals at the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room, London, the Vienna Conservatoire and also at The Hague, Holland, plus many BBC broadcasts. He has performed the piano concertos of Schumann, Rachmaninoff II, Chopin I and the Franck Symphonic Variations with several British orchestras.

As an accompanist Stephen has held a long association with local opera groups and the Royal Northern College of Music where he also teaches piano. He also gives duo recitals with flautist Jonathan Rimmer, and in recent years has been a regular accompanist with a number of local choral societies.
