Welcome to The Barnby Choir.
We are a
friendly mixed voice choir with around 70 members. We are based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in the South
Manchester area of the UK. Our conductor is Peter Stallworthy. The choir is affiliated to Making Music,
formerly known as the National Federation of Music Societies.
Our Spring term commences on Tuesday 10th January 2012. This term we will be rehearsing and singing
Puccini's Messa di Gloria and Dvorak's Mass in D. If you think you might like to give the choir a try,
then we will be delighted to welcome you at the Methodist Church in Wilmslow on any of the first
4 Tuesdays in January. Please arrive by 7.45 pm to allow time to introduce yourself (ask for Doug or Gill)
and collect some music. Some previous musical experience and an ability to read music is helpful,
but not essential, as many people can pick up this skill quite quickly. Feel free to telephone
Doug on 01625 526065 or 07966 909926 if you require more information.
The Barnby Choir was founded by Canon Bertie Barnby in 1945 for the enjoyment of making music
and that is still very much our mission today. We rehearse every Tuesday evening (September to May)
from 8.00pm - 10.00pm at Wilmslow Methodist Church.
