Membership

The choir has approximately 70 members.  Some of our members have been with us for over 30 years, many for about 5 to 15 years, and we also have a lot of new members.

We have a wide mix of people from all walks of life who all share one thing - love of choral music in a friendly and fun atmosphere.  Our rehearsals are hard work but enjoyable, and when we give our performances we get a real feeling that it was all worth the effort!

Rehearsals

We meet for rehearsals every Tuesday evening from September to May, from 7.45 to 10.00 pm, at Wilmslow Methodist Church.

Our first rehearsal of the year is usually combined with an informal social hour.  Instead of the usual 10 minute break with coffee/refreshments, we have an extended social hour to catch up on each other's news and get to know new members.  We each bring something to eat or drink.

Joining the Choir

We are always pleased to receive applications from prospective members, and we are particularly keen to recruit members in all four sections of the choir: Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses. If you are interested in joining the choir please contact the Choir Secretary on 0161 431 4897.

Prospective members join our rehearsals for a few weeks and then attend a short audition. You don't have to be able to read music, although some choir experience is an advantage.

Organisation

The choir is managed by a committee which also organises the programme of events.  The committee members are Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian, Concert Secretary and Publicity Secretary.  Of the nine members three retire annually, those offices being filled at the Annual General Meeting.  The Conductor and Accompanist are invited to committee meetings where their contributions and suggestions are welcomed.

The choir also possesses its own high quality sound recording equipment and its finances are in good order.

All set for the concert! Outside St Michael's in Bramhall where the Choir often performs

At the start of every season there is an informal social evening where members get a chance to meet each other

Coffee break during rehearsals every Tuesday at Wilmslow Methodist Church is a chance to catch up on the gossip.
